You are probably surprised that I´m posting today again. While picking out the pictures for yesterdays post, something dark flew real close by my head.At first I thought it was a butterfly, but as I turned around I saw that it was a bat.Unfortunately one of my cats saw it also and hit it onto the floor.I chased her away and called for Mr. Shabby to bring me some gloves.Meanwhile my little visitor flew on the bookshelf. There it was easy to catch and I put it in a shoebox. After research in the web I was supposed to set it free in an elevated position at dusk.
Endlich war die Dämmerung angebrochen und ich brachte sie raus in den Garten.Sie krabbelte zügig aus dem Karton, nur wollte sie nicht wegfliegen.Ich beobachtete das gute drei Stunden lang und ging dann zu Bett.
Finally twilight arrived and I took the bat into the garden. She swiftly crawled out of the box,but didn´t want to fly away.I checked on her for about three hours and then went to bed.
Traurig, ich hatte so gehofft sie abends ums Haus fliegen zu sehen :( .
First thing this morning I checked the garden and she was still there.I called several animal protection organizations and after endless phone calls I finally found a bat expert that lives close by.I was supposed to bring the little thing to him this evening. But there is no Happy End...as I was ready to take her to the car she had passed away .
Sad, I had hoped to see her flying around our house in the evenings :( .
